How to automate web forms and data entry with AI
To automate a web form with AI, give an AI browser agent the source of the data (a spreadsheet, an email, a document or another web page) and the form to fill; it reads the form, types each value into the right field and stops before Submit. What kinds of forms can an AI agent fill?
Any form that works in a web browser. The useful ones are the forms you fill again and again with data you already have somewhere else:
- CRM and ATS records. New contacts, companies, candidates and notes copied in from emails, sheets or public pages.
- Supplier, customer and partner portals. Orders, quotes, claims and status updates on sites that offer no integration.
- Applications and registrations. Vendor registrations, directory listings, licence renewals, grant or program applications.
- Listings. The same product, job or property posted to several sites, each with its own form.
- Internal tools. Admin panels and back-office screens where a person copies values in by hand today.
How does it work, step by step?
- Sign in once. Open the site in Vassal Agent's browser and sign in yourself. Your session stays on your computer.
- Describe the job. For example: "For each row in the sheet I have open, create a new contact in the CRM with name, company, email and the note column."
- Watch the first one. A live panel shows every page it opens and every field it types. Correct it in plain words if a field lands in the wrong place; it remembers.
- Approve each submit. At Submit, Save or Send the app stops and shows what is about to happen. Press Allow, or set a rule to allow that one button on that one site.
- Make it repeatable. Save the job as a workflow, or record it by doing it once. Run it by hand, on a schedule, or when a new email arrives.
Try: "Open the supplier portal, and for each order in today's sheet create a new order with the SKU, quantity and delivery date. Stop before each Submit."
How is this different from a form-filler extension or autofill?
Browser autofill and form-filler extensions paste saved values into fields that match a name, such as your address. An AI agent reads the form and your source data and decides what goes where, so it copes with different forms, dropdowns, multi-page flows and values that need a little judgment, like picking the right category from a list.
What about mistakes?
AI can misread a field. That is why the stop before Submit exists and why the app logs every action. Check the first few entries of a new job closely, keep the approval on for anything that matters, and set a daily cap on scheduled runs. See how the safety model works.

Can AI fill out web forms automatically?
Yes. An AI browser agent reads the form the way a person does, matches each field to your data, and types it in. Vassal Agent fills the form and stops at the Submit button until you approve, so nothing goes out that you have not seen.
Do I need to code or build a template?
No. You describe the job in plain words: "Put each row of this sheet into the supplier portal's new-order form." If you will do it again, do it once while the app watches and it becomes a reusable workflow, with the values you typed turned into questions.
Does it work on sites that need a login?
Yes. You sign in once, yourself, in the app's browser, and the agent works in that session. When a site asks for a password, a two-factor code or a CAPTCHA, the agent hands the window back to you.
Does it store my passwords?
No. Passwords are never recorded in workflows, and your logins and cookies stay on your computer.
How many forms can it do in a run?
As many as the job needs, one at a time at a human pace, with an approval before each submit. You can set rules to always allow a submit on one trusted site, or never on another.
Can it read from a PDF or email instead of a spreadsheet?
