Installing
How do I install it on a Mac?
Open the download, drag Vassal Agent into Applications, then open it from Applications or the Dock. The first time, macOS asks if you want to open an app downloaded from the internet. Choose Open.
macOS says it can't open the app. What do I do?
Open System Settings, go to Privacy & Security, scroll down and press Open Anyway next to Vassal Agent, then confirm with your password. You only do this once.
How do I install it on Windows?
Run the installer and follow the steps. If Windows shows a blue box saying it protected your PC, press More info and then Run anyway. You only see it once.
Setting up
What does it need to know about my business?
Just your website, and even that is optional. Paste it on the first screen and it reads the site in the background to learn what you do and who you sell to. Change anything it learned in Settings.
How do I connect my AI?
On the Connect your AI step, press the button. It installs Claude's helper and opens Claude's own sign-in page. Sign in with your Claude account. If you use ChatGPT Codex, Gemini or Cursor instead, open Connect in the app and press Connect next to it.
Which Claude plan do I need?
Claude Pro, $20 a month from Anthropic, is enough for most people. The free Claude plan can't run the assistant.
Do I need to sign in to my sites?
Only when a job needs one. If a job uses Gmail or LinkedIn and you are not signed in, it opens the site and asks you to sign in the usual way, then carries on. Your passwords stay on your computer and never reach us.
Using it every day
How do I give it a job?
Type what you want in the assistant box in plain words, like you would to a person. For example: find 30 companies in Miami hiring a head of sales and list the founders with links.
Will it send or buy anything without asking?
No. Before it sends, posts, submits, pays or deletes, it stops and asks. Nothing happens until you press Allow. Every step it takes is listed under Activity.
How do schedules and the Inbox work?
Open a workflow and press Schedule to run it every morning or every week. Results land in the Inbox, ready to read, copy or continue in the chat. Schedules run while the app is open, or in the background when Keep running when closed is on.
How does it learn?
After a job it keeps short notes: your preferences and each site's quirks. You can see, edit or erase all of it in Settings under What it has learned.
Billing and updates
How does the free trial work?
You get 14 days with everything included and no card. When you are ready, press Buy in the app or on this site, choose monthly or yearly, and your license key arrives by email.
Where do I enter my license key?
Open Settings, then License, paste the key and press Activate. One key works on two computers.
How do updates work?
They install themselves. The app downloads a new version in the background and switches to it the next time you quit and open it.
How do I cancel?
Use the link in your receipt email. Your plan runs to the end of the period you paid for. In your first 14 days after paying you can ask for a full refund.
If something goes wrong
It says the assistant isn't signed in.
Open Settings, then Assistant, and press Sign in. If it keeps happening, sign out of Claude and sign in again when the app asks.
A site logged me out.
Open that site in the app's browser and sign in again. Some sites sign you out every few weeks for security.
A job stopped halfway.
Check the Inbox and the chat for what it managed and why it stopped. Press Run again, or tell it what to do differently. It keeps what it learned.
